As a project manager, Lidewij van Trigt supervises several projects that use the living lab The Green Village and its hydrogen grid for their innovation process. Think of network operators who gain knowledge and experience and train their people to work with hydrogen and a consortium of companies that has made the shift from natural gas to 100% hydrogen in one of the inhabited houses in The Green Village (project H2@Home). Lidewij was also responsible for obtaining the permit to work with hydrogen.
The Green Village is a unique testing ground on the TU Delft campus. This lifelike ‘open-air lab’, where people live and work, is available for all stakeholders who need to be involved in the sustainable transitions of our society. Data and intelligent grids are becoming increasingly important in this regard. The Green Village offers scientists and entrepreneurs the space to discover how their innovations function in a real life system, to explore which sustainable business models will work, to enter into discussions with the public and to collaborate.
Three Dutch network companies have installed a hydrogen gas network at The Green Village. They manage this to be able to conduct practical research into the role of hydrogen in the built environment. Third parties may use the “Hydrogen Street” for research. This creates a system with production, transport and use of hydrogen. Thanks to our environmental permit, we can easily start up new projects.
