A mathematical physicist by training, since completing his doctorate Gunnar worked primarily within research and development of applied energy technologies for the last 15 years. His focus is here mainly on electrochemical and thermodynamic energy conversion and storage technologies. Gunnar is particularly interested in optimal design and control of highly integrated energy systems for a broad range of applications from stationary via vehicles and marine to aviation. His methodologies are typically based on a constructive interference between first principles and machine learning.
