Toby leads the Business Investment & Export Development Division at the Nova Scotia Department of Natural Resources & Renewables, responsible for advancing the interests of the province with respect to energy to achieve optimum economic, social, and environmental value from the sector. Nova Scotia is actively pursuing increased investment in the hydrogen and related offshore wind sectors and has put in place targets to increase the use of clean and renewable energy with the objective of establishing a robust and diverse energy economy. With an educated workforce, a strong supply chain, and abundant natural resources including an enviable wind regime and the highest tides in the world, this objective is well within reach. As part of his role, Toby builds relationships with project developers, the supply and service sector, governments and researchers, with an eye to facilitating energy development both locally and internationally. Toby graduated from Dalhousie University with a PhD in Marine Biology and has a broad background in marine science, industry development and management with emphasis on improved resource utilization for the betterment of Nova Scotia.
