The official hydrogen event in Rotterdam spoke to the world’s hydrogen and energy leaders about the future outlook for the hydrogen industry, including the Premier of Sarawak Malaysia, the Right Honourable, Datuk Patinggi Abang Haji Zohari Tun Open.

What message did you share with the audience?

First of all, I would like to extend my appreciation to the organisers for inviting me and the rest of my delegation from that part of the world to participate in this conference, which is very important and very significant in the changing landscape throughout the world. As you know, climate change is an issue, and we have to preserve our environment. While at the same time Hydrogen is one of the ways for us to curb or to mitigate carbon emissions.

I from Sarawak, Malaysia would like to share what we have done in Sarawak and also what we are going to do for the future in Sarawak to share the resources that we have while at the same time adapting to technology, the latest technology to produce for instance, hydrogen as an enabler in terms of usage for the community while at the same time to preserve our environment for the future.

So, because of that, against that particular background, I had the privilege to engage with the players in the industry, and we hope that with this engagement we are able to find certain solutions and to move our economy forward in a manner that will not destroy the environment. So once again, thank you very much to the organisers.

How important is the collaboration between government and industry for the energy transition?

There must be that collaboration because the government will set the policy and once the policy is set the business will respond because they are good in technology, they are the technology provider.

Once you can match the two, then what is important is for you to achieve your objective of your principal objective of you know, reducing or mitigate carbon and the issues of environment.

Because throughout the world we see a lot of calamities, floods, heatwaves, all that is because of the environment.

That is why the state of Sarawak is giving emphasis on this and we have to adjust our policy towards the future.

Why is the World Hydrogen Summit & Exhibition unique?

This is forum and venue where I think the businesses and the government can really engage and will be able to update themselves. Government, they may have to revise legislation and the laws. And the private sector, they can improve their technology for the needs of the industry as a whole.

I think today is a quite beneficial day for both sides.

Produced by the Sustainable Energy Council in partnership with the Port of Rotterdam, the City of Rotterdam and the Province of Zuid Holland, the global event welcomes 8000 industry professionals, 170+ Speakers, 350 Exhibitors and 50 sponsors to share latest news, establish key connections and sign business deals to accelerate the deployment of the hydrogen economy.
